Ces2018 let the world witness the growth of China's intelligent manufacturing
ces2018 has come to an end: in this annual largest science and technology carnival, we (China) have also left the footsteps of pilgrimage. It's time to sum up a wave. Let's talk about our experiences and feelings along the way
2016 is undoubtedly a booming year for VR. Recalling the CES booth at that time, there are countless VR devices to experience
the best VR devices in those years, PSVR, HTC vive and oculus rift, have only been slightly updated, and no real generation 2 products have been launched
take HTC vive as an example. It was released two years ago, and the new version of vive Pro has targeted some problems of the first generation
for example, the resolution of the screen was increased by 78%, the built-in headset was upgraded, and four base stations were supported, which doubled its mobile range (about 10 square meters)
these small upgrade points can indeed improve the experience, and the price of VR head mounted display has also decreased, but their overall cost, including head mounted display/host/display, is still a valuable combination
vr's main application fields are still focused on games, while the so-called creator's community and developer platform have not taken shape, and in the medical, Internet home decoration, model design and other commercial fields, VR is far from meeting our expectations
2018 CES, VR did not perform the return of the king, but surprisingly, AR was almost invisible. Although augmented reality seemed to be more fashionable than virtual reality through Pokemon go, Apple's arkit, and AR expression, at least in CES, AR was absent
vr is not dead either. CES has designated a large area for VR in the main venue, and the most popular area is still Samsung's gear VR experience area
there are also some interesting exhibitors, such as the 8K head display of Xiaopai technology, which let us appreciate the progress of technology
for VR entrepreneurs, CES is undoubtedly a great opportunity to brush off a wave of sense of existence. They can take the opportunity to show their technical strength and product prototypes, stimulate consumer interest, and attract investors' attention (although few people will pay attention)
impact strength is the ratio of impact energy (in J) to the area under the notch. In the past CES, we can often see some concept cars and engineering cars, such as LETV's Faraday future last year
this year, we have seen more technologies related to cars, such as the current popular electric cars and autonomous driving
with Tesla taking the lead, CES has become a stage for many traditional car manufacturers to show their muscles, and the boundaries between Google, Intel, Baidu, GM, Ford, Internet companies and traditional car manufacturers have become unprecedentedly blurred
for example, baidu released the autopilot platform on CES: Apollo 2.0. The weakness of Jilu products lies in GPS, high-precision map and lidar, which can realize real-time monitoring with wider range and higher precision
Samsung also launched its own software and hardware integration platform: drvline. Manufacturers can customize their own software and hardware for vehicles based on drvline platform. Does it sound like Android platform
in addition to the small number of components and low threshold of electric vehicles, the most important data and algorithms of automatic driving also make technology companies see the possibility. We see that many technology/Internet companies have entered the automotive industry, and more automakers have also begun to embrace interconnection and new technologies
but like Faraday future, many cars on ces are also concepts. How many self driving electric vehicles appear on the road in 2018? It is estimated that it will not be much, but it is the trend of future automobile development
as far as TV is concerned, it's not a big surprise, but as one of the traditional fields of CES, TV still has a large proportion
not to mention anything else, there is a big TCL printed on the back of each visitor's badge. I don't know how much TCL spent, money and willfulness
however, this is not just a face project. At TCL's booth, I was deeply attracted by its screen. The color, contrast and delicacy are really impeccable
I always think that the quality of the screen can be divided by size. Small screens, such as screens, must be the best. They often have the highest color gamut value, the best cover, and can automatically adjust the color temperature and brightness with the ambient light. The computer screen takes the second place. The TV has the largest size, high cost, few buyers, and the upgrading is naturally slow
when I went to ces2018, my cognition was completely refreshed, and I often exclaimed: Ya, is this TV? How can the effect be so good
but later I convinced myself that the TVs in these booths are propaganda videos, which are often the highest standard that TV can support. When you buy home and connect to the TV channel, you find that 4K, HDR and high frame rate are all gone. You can't find the content source in perfect format at all. It's 720p or 720p, and you return to the pre liberation overnight
this is also a short board of current TV. It is configured, and there is no corresponding content matching
in the TV exhibition area of CES, each company advertises only a few technical points: 4K, HDR, OLED, large screen, ultra-thin, language assistant. Are tired of talking about technology, most of the upgrade points are also similar
the wearable exhibition area is not in the main venue of CES, but in a pavilion called sand Expo next to it. There are almost no large booths, all of which are small and medium-sized, and there are many companies who have never heard of their names
in 2017, wearable devices did not fare well, and many well-known manufacturers closed down one after another. On the contrary, the disappearance of headset holes made wireless Bluetooth headsets rise. If wireless headphones cannot be planned to this branch, there is really nothing to talk about wearing them
ces also reflects the decline of wearables, and the number of wearable related booths decreased from 82 in 2017 to 51. We still haven't seen the big data and precision medicine that big and small manufacturers have promised
but these two points are still the main theme, and wearables are still moving closer to them: sports data recording and personal health index monitoring
on ces2018, the sensors on wearable devices have made slight progress, but the categories have not become wider. GoPro has no sense of existence, and there are a lot of unknown bracelets. In addition, smart watches based on Android wear 2.0 can be seen everywhere
but in terms of sales volume and brand influence, in the absence of Apple watch, the industry leader, it is just a rookie pecking each other
smart home
smart home has a long history in CES. Only in the past two years, it has really entered the public view
since around 2015, many products have been labeled as intelligent. From light bulbs, sockets, stereos, door handles, this year, we see that more products are connected to intelligence, among which there are still many product forms we have never seen, such as small cabinets that fold clothes by ourselves
many intelligent hardware manufacturers have to fall into the battle of several platforms. Apple, Google and Amazon, relying on their strong user groups and platform strength, build their own standards and protocols, which is like the competition between IOS and Android camps. Device developers also need teams, which is a good thing for the majority of consumers. The unification of standards, It can end the division of control experience brought by manufacturers for their respective businesses as soon as possible
ces is a laboratory, and we have seen many fantastic products, which is particularly common in smart home. After all, compared with TV, smart home is an emerging industry
all kinds of products that have never been seen, are dazzling, or have no egg use, have taken root and sprouted on this experimental field of thought
smart home may not be the most important part of CES, but it must be the most interesting part. Just like a familiar recipe, the sudden emergence of special order brings different surprises or bewilderment
about CES itself
the first insight is that it's big. I've been to some exhibitions before, but I've never seen CES so big. CES is divided into several exhibition areas, including East, West and south areas. One area can be visited for a whole day
booths are charged according to their size. A booth of 9 square meters is about 50000, and an booth of 18 square meters is more than 80000, which may cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. In addition to the location itself, how to decorate and decorate it is more expensive. The large booths at the entrance are often occupied by large companies with rich and powerful resources
Samsung's huge booth
according to our understanding, manufacturers are not allowed to sell directly in the booth. They spend so much money to participate in the exhibition, some for publicity, and some will collect industry intelligence, or look for potential suppliers and partners. Not all visitors to the exhibition are consumers, but also many suppliers, purchasers and investors. They are aimless and can directly connect with the resources they want when they meet the right one
from this perspective, although CES is called the international consumer electronics exhibition, both the things on display and the participants have long been separated from the simple category of consumer electronics
perhaps it is for this reason that CES has become the most important science and technology event every year. Its scale, internationalization, diversity and inclusiveness allow people in different industries to communicate with each other and connect resources. It also makes CES a lookout for observing the industrial trend of the whole year and looking forward to the future
ces has more and more Chinese manufacturers, which is a fact. They have formed an absolute advantage in number. About one in every three booths is from China
when visiting the booth, I occasionally ask in English. Half of the time, I accidentally glanced at the other party's badge and saw a thing similar to Pinyin, just ask do you speak Chinese? The other party was stunned and laughed. Had he known what else to talk about? How hard
in contact, Shenzhen enterprises account for the majority of Chinese brands, which is due to the manufacturing level of Shenzhen and the blowout explosion of intelligent hardware. Some people laugh that the lever type 4-ball friction and wear tester is composed of a spindle drive system, an oil box and heater, a friction force measurement system, an operation panel (including the digital display setting control and alarm of various main parameters), an electrical control system CES, which is composed of strong current system and other parts, is something made by a group of Shenzhen people to see another group of Shenzhen people
however, although there are many Chinese manufacturers, most of them are small booths, and the location is also very remote. Many booths are deserted, and the people in charge of the duty are brushing, bored
turn to the introduction of USB type-C connector to reduce electronic waste. You will find that most domestic brands do not occupy a dominant position in their industry, and they all exist like soy sauce. For many small manufacturers, taking part in CES may just be a decision made by the bosses who are eager to beat the table. What the bosses want is how to make more money. They don't think much about how to build high-end brands, gain public praise, open up the market and gain greater international influence
but these questions are exactly the answers to occupy the geomantic treasure land of CES and change the low-end image of made in China in people's hearts for a long time. Whether as a media, consumer or Chinese, this is what we want to see
